Velma Mae Barnes, 79, of Millstone, West Virginia, passed away on March 19, 2026, at St. Mary's Cornerstone Hospital in Huntington.

She was born on May 3, 1946, in Orma, West Virginia, a daughter of the late Perry and Phoebe (Cottrell) Parsons. She was a homemaker who enjoyed spending time with and caring for her family. Her hobbies included cooking, cleaning, and sewing for her family

She was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald Lee Barnes; her son, Gerald Bradley Barnes; and her brothers, Brenton Parsons, Cecil Parsons, Dennis Parsons, Rosloe Parsons, Vance Parsons, and Thomas Perry Parsons.

Velma is survived by her son, Thomas Barnes; her brother, Eugene Parsons; her daughter-in-law, Joy Barnes; and her two grandchildren, Abigail Weikle and Thomas Barnes.

The funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 28, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at Taylor-Vandale Funeral Home. Public visitation will be from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. Burial will follow at Barnes Cemetery, with Kenneth Parsons officiating.
