RUTH O. NICHOLS, 96, of Spencer, passed away on Thursday, May 7, 2020 at the Roane General Hospital in Spencer. She was born March 26, 1924 in Calhoun County, a daughter of the late Perry and Vena Waggoner Nichols. She was retired from Kellwood and formerly worked at Norris Industries and was a member of the Slate United Methodist Church. Ruth is survived by two sons, Wayne Holcomb of Reedy and David Holcomb of Spencer; three step-sons, Robert, James, and David Nichols, all of Linden; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Henry R. Nichols; sons, Kenneth Ray Holcomb and Jerry Mace; daughters, Debra Wolfe and Carolyn Gibson; and brothers, Paul, Oral, Chester, and Perry, Jr.. Gravesides services will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, May 9, 2020 at the Blessed Hope Cemetery on Egypt Ridge near Spencer with Pastor Danny Whited officiating. There will be no visitation at the funeral home. Taylor-Vandale Funeral Home in Spencer, is in charge of the arrangements.
