Roy Rishel, 88, of Spencer, WV passed away on December 20, 2023 at his home following a lengthy battle with Alzheimer's.

Roy was born to Paul Rishel and Irene Carpenter Hudson on December 28, 1934 in Spencer, WV.

He grew up in Reedy, WV and was a graduate of Spencer High School and West Virginia University.  Following college Roy served in the Army and was stationed in Germany, and soon after his return met and married his late wife Mary Ann.  They both worked for and eventually owned Hays & Co. in Spencer, operating the business until retirement gave them the time to enjoy traveling and especially spending time at Kiawah Island, SC. Roy was proud to serve on the Roane County Board of Education and the WV Board of Accountants, and was a long-time member of St. John's United Methodist Church.

In addition to his wife and parents, Roy was preceded in death by a half-brother Bob Hudson.

Left behind to miss their Dad and Papa are his children, Kim Tetrick of Pittsburgh, PA, Rob and Lee Rishel of Spencer, WV; and his granddaughters, Leah and Ellie Tetrick of Pittsburgh, PA. We will forever miss his quick, dry wit and his ability to strike up a conversation with anyone, anywhere.  As they say, "he never met a stranger".

A graveside service will be held at 10:00 A.M. ~ Saturday, December 23, 2023 at Eventide Cemetery in Spencer.  Friends and family are invited to join a celebration of life immediately following the service at St. John's, 335 Church Street Spencer, WV. 25276
