ROBERTA E. GEORGE DYE, 78, of Palestine, West Virginia passed away at home Sunday, January 22, 2017 surrounded by family. Roberta was born June 29, 1938 in Wirt County, West Virginia a daughter of the late Alvie and Icie Cottrell George. She was a 1955 graduate of Wirt County High and worked at Reedy Grocery for 39 years. She loved baking and making candy for family and friends. She was a member of the Mt. William Baptist Church. She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Basil R. Dye; four children, Evelyn (Roy) Barnett, Carolyn (Tim) Sims, Cathy Burdette, and Michael (April) Dye; eight grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Paul George, and a sister, Hazel Cox. A memorial service will be held at 7:00pm Thursday, January 26, 2017 at the TAYLOR-VANDALE FUNERAL HOME, Spencer, West Virginia with Bill Walton officiating. Visiting hours will be held from 3:00pm until the time of service on Thursday. Per her request, the body was cremated. Burial will take place at a later date at the Good Hope Cemetery, Reedy at the discretion of the family. Roberta and her family would like to thank the friends who sent food and cards during her illness and Hospice for all their care and help.
