Robert "Bob"
Drennen
Jul 9, 1943 — Oct 24, 2025
Robert James "Bob" Drennen, 82 of Spencer passed away peacefully on October 24, 2025 surrounded by his loving family. He was born July 9, 1943 in New South Wales, Australia, son of the late James F. Drennen, Mazie Gloria Stumbles Steele and step father, Brooks "Pappy" Steele.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Shirley Drennen; sons Gregory Drennen of Ripley, Christopher Drennen (Corrina) of Elizabeth, Timothy Drennen of Spencer, Morris Drennen (Michelle) of Palestine, Michael Drennen (Lynn) of Spencer and one daughter Sandra West (Bob) of Ripley. Grandchildren include Amanda Drennen Keeler, Joshua McHenry, Jared Drennen, Zachariah Drennen, Brittany Dowdy, Bobbie Drennen, Jon Dowdy, Joey Dowdy, Justin West and Lakin Drennen and 12 great grandchildren and also his sisters, Valerie Chambers and Judith Burkett, both of Weston and his brother, David Drennen of Spencer.
He was preceded in death by siblings, Johnny Drennen, Garry Drennen, and Patricia Cleavenger and one grandchild, Hunter Martin Drennen Allen.
He was a retired over the road truck driver and the proud owner of D & D Dismantling and Recycling, where he built many lasting friendships. He worked hard his whole life and was proud of what he had built. In his earlier years, he was an active member of his community, volunteering his time with youth sports programs, the local fire department and local Boy Scout chapter. He always enjoyed being the pancake chef at the Black Walnut Festival for the Boy Scout troop.
He loved to travel and had fulfilled a dream of visiting all 50 states along with traveling back to Australia. He will be remembered for his hard work, quick wit and sarcasm. Though "love" wasn't a word often found in his vocabulary, he had a silent way of showing it.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to CAMC Memorial 3 West, especially Lindsey, RN, Mountain View Care Center and Hubbard Hospice House for their exceptional care and compassion during his final weeks. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Hubbard Hospice House 1001 Curtis Price Way Charleston, WV 25311.
