PAUL O'BRIEN, 71, of Reedy, WV, passed away on Monday, November 25, 2019 at Camden-Clark memorial Hospital in Parkersburg, WV. He was born February 6, 1948 in Spencer, WV, a son of the late Romie George O'Brien and Clara Belle Bullis O'Brien. He was a retired block laborer with Union Local 1353 out of Charleston, WV and a veteran of the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War where he received two Purple Hearts and the Combat Infantry Badge. Paul is survived by his wife, Darlena Byrd O'Brien; two children, Tonya O'Brien of Radford, VA and Tony (Amanda) O'Brien of St. Albans, WV; his step-children, Tabitha Smith, Casey Hicks, Stacey Miller, and James Byrd, all of Spencer and Aaron Byrd of Batesville, IN; his sisters, Ethel O'Brien of Cape Coral, FL, Nancy Butler of Uniontown, OH, Paulette Aud of Baltimore, MD, Gloria Lively of Fayetteville, WV, and Teresa Mitchell of Spencer; his brothers, Mike and Dean O'Brien, both of Spencer; three grandsons; six step-grandsons; three step-granddaughters; two great-grandsons; one great-granddaughter; and several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Patricia and his brothers, Roger "Jake", Stanley, Benny, Earl, Romie, Jr., Robert, Ronnie, Randall, and Larry. Service will be at 1:00pm on Sunday, December 1, 2019 at the Taylor-Vandale Funeral Home in Spencer. Burial with military graveside rites will follow in the Simmons Cemetery near Spencer. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
