PANSY V. SUTPHIN, 89, of Spencer, West Virginia, passed away on January 18, 2022 at the Hubbard Hospice House in Charleston, West Virginia, after a short illness.
She was born September 19, 1932 in Roane County, a daughter of the late Dair and Ada Tanner Starcher. She was formerly employed at Kellwood in Spencer and retired from the Spencer State Hospital.
Pansy is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Sandra and Bill Shreve of Spencer; son, Gregory O. Sutphin of Spencer; 12 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; and 9 great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jack O. Sutphin; son, William "Doug" Sutphin; daughter-in-law, Beverly Sutphin; grandson, Tom Wilson; great-grandson, Josh Simons; brothers, Virgil, James, Emery and Orlando "Paige" Starcher; sisters, Freda Mae Love and Ernestine Goff; and four infant siblings.
Service will be at 2:00pm on Sunday, January 23, 2022 at the Taylor-Vandale Funeral Home in Spencer with Rev. James Epling officiating. Burial will follow in the Eventide Cemetery with Pansy's grandson, Associate Pastor Kevin Shreve, officiating. Visiting will be two hours prior to the service on Sunday.
