Obituary

Lora Mae Carper Justice, 83, a beloved wife, mother, grandma, and friend, passed away on March 26, 2025 peacefully. Born on October 22, 1941 in Amma, West Virginia, to the late James Howard and Anna Maud Ramsey Carper, she was a woman of faith, kindness, and deep family devotion.

Lora Mae's bright personality and passion for life touched everyone she met. Whether she was watching over her flowers or watching the birds, she found beauty in the simple things. She poured love into her family, friends, and home, especially through her love of cooking and canning, which brought comfort to many. She was adventurous, loved to travel, and was always ready for a game of cards or bingo, bringing joy and laughter to those around her. She will always be remembered for the meals shared around her table, the jars of love she gave to others, and the fun she brought into every moment.

A Christian and lifelong member of the Amma Church of Christ, Lora Mae's faith was the foundation of her life. She was also a 46-year member of Thelma Chapter #24 Order of the Eastern Star, where she formed lifelong bonds with her sisters and brothers.

Lora Mae worked for over 20 years at Bob Evans Restaurant, retiring in 2010. She was known for her bright smile, infectious laughter, and genuine kindness to everyone she encountered. She was married to her loving husband, James "Red" Randall Justice, on June 24, 1961, in South Charleston, West Virginia. Together, they built a beautiful life filled with love and laughter.

Lora Mae is survived by her devoted husband of 63 years, James "Red" Justice; daughters Tammy (Ron) White of Spencer, WV, and Lisa Taylor and Jay Light of Cross Lanes, WV; grandchildren Bradford (Casey) Camp of Ripley, WV, and Riley White of Morgantown, WV; great-grandchildren Gavin and Addison Camp of Ripley, WV; her beloved brother Danny Joe (Linda) Carper; her sister Patricia (Tom) Sungy; and several cherished nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by two son-in-laws, Michael Camp and Kevin Taylor; her grandson Derrick Camp; and brothers Herbert, James Hershell, Roscoe, and Howard Carper Jr.
