Kid Ray Henthorn "Ray" age 87 departed this life on Thursday, May 16th at his home in Spencer, West Virginia.

Ray Henthorn was born on January 6, 1937 in Tyler County, West Viginia.  He left Tyler County as a young man to join The United States Navy and then went on to begin a career in the oil and gas industry. In a career spanning nearly 50 years he held various positions with oil and gas drilling and energy related companies in numerous states including West Virginia, Texas and Tennessee. Ray served as a member of the Independent Oil and Gas Association of West Virginia and the Tennessee Oil and Gas Association. Ray had a keen expertise of equipment and a unique ability to mentor and train others.

Ray Henthorn was proceeded in death by his parents Eli and Audra Henthorn and one son Edward Henthorn.

Ray's survivors include his wife Margaret together 47 years, son Ray Eugene (Cindy) Henthorn, daughter Patrica Henthorn, son David Henthorn, son Bobby (Amanda) Conley, son Darrin (Crystal) Conley, daughter Betty Carpenter, daughter Lisa Henthorn, J. Michael Poole whom he considered a son and a close nephew Larry Henthorn. Also surviving Ray are a host of grandchildren and great grandchildren whom he dearly adored.

Ray Henthorn was a husband, a father, a grandfather and a provider and teacher to many.

Relatives and friends are invited to a graveside service for Ray to be held at Mount Aris Cemetery in Middlebourne, West Virginia on Sunday, May 19, 2024 at 2:00pm. Burial will follow the service.

On-site arrangements are entrusted to Furbee Funeral Home at 217 Main Street, Middlebourne, West Virginia.
