Junior Thomas Mitchell, 97, of Gay, WV passed January 5, 2023 at Hubbard Hospice House in Charleston, WV.

He was born September 9, 1925 in Jackson County, WV and was the son of the late Roy and Janie Rhodes Mitchell.

He was a United States WWII Army veteran and had worked as an oil pumper for Okmar Oil Company. Junior attended Millcreek Baptist Church and was the caretaker for Mt. Zion cemetery for many years.

Left behind to cherish his memory, are his children Thomas Mitchell of Spencer, WV and Kimberly Miller (Tim) of Gay, WV; sister, AnnaLea McCrady of Ripley, WV; 4 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Earline Guthrie Mitchell; son, Jimmy Mitchell; brothers, Gay and Lawrence Mitchell; tin brothers, Buddy and Bubby Mitchell; infant brother, Franklin Mitchell; and sisters, Evelyn Willis, Violet Burdette, Dorothy Grady and Barbara Freeman.

Services will be 2:00 P.M. ~ Sunday, January 8, 2023 at Taylor-Vandale Funeral Home in Spencer, WV with Pastor Robert "Bob" Keen officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Zion Cemetery in Roane County. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service on Sunday.

In lieu of flowers, the family would like donations to be made to the Mt. Zion Cemetery Fund at 128 Locust Ave. Spencer, WV 25276.
