James Arthur Freeland, 76, of Reedy, WV, passed away Friday, November 12, 2021, in Marietta Memorial Hospital following a brief illness.

He was born February 13, 1945, in Spencer, WV, a son of the late William "Bill" and Effie Henrietta (McKown) Freeland. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Billy, Charles, Leslie "Brook", Roger, Larry and Jerry Freeland.

He was a member of the Good Hope Baptist Church, Reedy, WV. He was a former employee of Monarch Rubber, Bill Bailey's Furniture and the Roane County Board of Education with 25 years of service.

Survivors include his wife Peggy Ann (Waggoner) Freeland; sons, James A. "Jimmy" (Ashley) Freeland of Reedy, Kevin W. (Lori) Freeland of Reedy and Joshua (Sarah) Freeland of Leroy, WV; sister, Peggy Starcher Saunders (Jerry) of Spencer; grandchildren, Cassie Casner, T.J, Alyvia, Tyson Freeland, Gwendolyn Pinson, Layne (Beverly) Freeland, Landon, Kinzley, Kase, Kessa, Aiden, Archer Freeland, Bella and Bristol Sampson; 7 great-grandchildren.

Service will be 1 p.m. ~ Tuesday, November, 16, 2021 at Taylor-Vandale Funeral Home, Spencer, WV with Pastor Johnny Price officiating. Burial will follow in Good Hope Baptist Church Cemetery, Reedy, WV. Visitation will be from 11 am until time-of-service, Tuesday at the funeral home.
