Helen Louise Sommerville, 83, of Reedy, WV went home to be with the Lord on June 18, 2022.

Helen was born April 26, 1939, to the late Oakford and Wanda Price Spencer.

Helen was preceded in death by her late husband, Earl Sommerville and her son, Rusty Sommerville.

Helen is survived by her children, Ronnie Sommerville of Reedy, Jeff Sommerville of Reedy (Peggy Lesher of Walton, WV), Randy (Lucy) Sommerville of Reedy, and Penny (Scott) Arnold of Spencer. In addition to her children that are left behind to cherish her memory, are six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Helen is survived by her siblings, Billy Joe (Rosa Lee) of Spencer, Patsy Bell of Belpre OH, and Janet Spencer, and Ann Still both of Parkersburg, WV.

She worked as a cook at Reedy Elementary School, and with the Committee on Aging where she was an in-home care giver. She also worked with PATCH at Reedy Elementary teaching boys and girls the art of Chicken Scratch sewing.

Helen enjoyed growing and arranging flowers, reading, sewing, watching cooking shows, bird watching, and working jigsaw puzzles. She was a wonderful cook and homemaker. She will be sadly missed by her family and friends.

Helen was strong in her faith and a devout Christian, being an active member of the Gilboa Baptist Church for over 34 years. She was an active member of her church's American Baptist Women's Missionary, serving as the card chair for over 32 years, sending out thousands of cards. She also actively helped with many church projects including Bible Schools, Clothing Giveaways, White-Cross, Prayer Blankets, Meals, and multiple other outreaches.

A memorial service will be held on July 9, 2022, 1:00 PM at the Gilboa Baptist Church 3930 Barcut Rd. Spencer, WV 25276 with Rev. Larry Greathouse officiating.  In lieu of flowers, family asks for donations to be made to Gilboa Baptist Women's Missionary Group at PO Box 437 Spencer, WV 25276.
