Gene Lee Berkhouse, 82 of Left Hand, WV passed away peacefully after a prolonged illness on January 5, 2024 at Hubbard House in Charleston, WV.

He was born on June 14, 1941, in Roane County, a son of the late Rome and Hazel (Dye) Berkhouse. He was a retired pipeliner, having worked for Poston, LA, Pace and United Welding Pipelines. He was a member of the Teamsters Union. He enjoyed attending and watching NASCAR races and spending time with his family. Gene was a person who would go out of his way to help anyone he knew. He was a wonderful husband and father, a great neighbor and a friend to those who knew him.

He is survived by his wife Karen Berkhouse of Left Hand, WV children Kimberly Carper (Troy) of Hewett, WV, Vicky Berkhouse of Left Hand, WV, Michael Berkhouse (Betsy) of Ripley, WV and Brittney Vaughan (Dustin) of Left Hand, WV; grandchildren Ryan Carper of Charleston, WV and Bayleigh Vaughan of Left Hand, WV; siblings Jack Berkhouse of Left Hand, WV and Larry Berkhouse (Diane) of Left Hand, WV.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by siblings Jerry Berkhouse, Paul Berkhouse, Charles Berkhouse, Bobby Berkhouse, Bill Berkhouse, Sue Burns and Garland Berkhouse.

Service will be at 1:00pm on Saturday, January 13, 2024 at the Taylor-Vandale Funeral Home in Spencer, WV with visitation two hours prior. Pastor Rick Perrine will be officiating.  Burial will follow in the Clover Cemetery in Clover, WV.
