EMMA "JEAN" ARMSTEAD MILLER, 78, of Ravenswood, formerly of Spencer, passed away October 10, 2022 at Selby General Hospital after a short illness.
She was born December 12, 1943 in Clio, West Virginia, a daughter of the late James Lloyd Armstead and Elva Jane Smith Armstead. She was a member of the Rush Creek Baptist Church and the West Ripley Baptist Church. She was employed by Bell Atlantic for many years, also by Dick Gregg State Farm Insurance and Roane County Board of Education as secretary at Spencer Middle School.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Michael, Leo, and Otis; and sisters, Tharon and Wanda.
Jean is survived by her husband of 43 years, Sammie W. Miller; her sons, Tim A. (Jeania) Mitchell of East Sparta, Ohio, Timothy W. (Anita) Miller of Parkersburg and her daughter, Lisa Brookover, also of Parkersburg; four grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren; her brother, Stevie (Barb) Armstead of Middlesex, North Carolina; her sisters, Barbara (Leahman) Smith of Clendenin, West Virginia and Madge Jett of Canton, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews that loved her dearly.
Service will be at 11:00am on Thursday, October 13, 2022 at the Taylor-Vandale Funeral Home in Spencer, with Pastor Danny Whited officiating. Burial will follow in the Swank Cemetery on Speed Road near Spencer. Visiting is one hour prior to the service on Thursday at the funeral home.
