Obituary

Elizabeth Ann Vineyard of Spencer, West Virginia, passed away on Thursday April 2nd, 2026 at Worthington Healthcare Center in Parkersburg, West Virginia.  She was born in Spencer, West Virginia April 18th, 1946.

Elizabeth was a proud graduate of Spencer High School, class of 1965, where she was a member of the band and served as first chair flautist and majorette.  She spent her life rooted in the community she loved and staying connected to special high school friends, and dear cousins. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, studying her Bible, and caring for her kitties Bingley and Oliver. During the seasons of life she treasured most she hosted Christmas gatherings, baby showers, birthday celebrations and Bible studies. Holidays gave her a reason to beautifully dress her home for loved ones. She delighted in cooking her favorite Southern dishes and fresh salads straight from her garden. She loved Billy Graham, classical music and watching the Master's. Her appreciation for classical music was inspired by her brother, Edward, a local musician and teacher. After losing her father at just six years old, her brother, Edward, became both her best friend and a father figure.

After high school she pursued training as a secretary and office attendant with a reputation in her high speed and efficiency as a typist. This led to her work as a medical Transcriptionist and a church secretary. She took great pride in her detail and design for her church newsletters. She also worked as a teacher for Roane County Head start when her two oldest children were quite young in the early 70's.

She was preceded in death by her father, Guy Raymond Vineyard (1952), her twin brothers Roger Dale and Stephen Clark, her mother Gladys Viola Vineyard (1987), her brother Edward Maurice Vineyard (2008).

Elizabeth leaves behind a love for her children; son, Christopher Shawn Davisson of Charlotte North Carolina, and daughters Andrea Paige Lemon Williams of Somerset, Kentucky and Anna Elizabeth Schutt of Connecticut. She is also survived by her grandchildren Hannah Victoria Davisson of Southport, North Carolina, Lilly Rebecca Davisson of Charlotte, North Carolina, Shawn Anthony Davisson of Charlotte , North Carolina, Liam Christopher Davisson of Mint Hill, NC and Ryan Lee G. Davisson also of Mint Hill, NC. Stephen Michael Lemon (Blake) of Somerset, Kentucky, Christian Paul Lemon (Amanda) of Somerset, Kentucky, Hayley Paige Watkins (Ethan) of Somerset, KY and Clark Douglas Lemon of Louisville, Kentucky.

Her legacy continues through her great grandchildren, Emma, Landon, and Henry.

Elizabeth will be remembered for her servant's heart, her open home, her deep love for her family and an unwavering devotion to her Savior. She carried herself with great faith through her cancer journey. Her favorite Bible verse was John 1:1-3.

The family would like to thank Dr. Carrol Christiansen for his compassion and devotion for over forty years of care. He was not only a doctor, but a steady source of comfort and guidance, helping ensure she received the care she needed.

The family would also like to acknowledge Michal Alexandrea Arnott Parsons for her loving and devoted care of Elizabeth once shown  in caring for her own mother during her battle with cancer - a woman who was also Liz's best friend.

In addition, Liz dearly loved her two nieces, Erica and Heather, whose presence, comfort and love brought her great peace in the final days of her life.

A Celebration of Life in honor of Elizabeth will be held on June 13, 2026, at a house gathering at Heritage Park, Building 110, located at 110 Church Street in Spencer, West Virginia. The family will provide a selection of finger foods and refreshments for those in attendance.
