Effie Mae Cooper, 90, of Parkersburg, WV formerly of Spencer, WV passed away August 25, 2023 at Ohio Valley Healthcare in Parkersburg.

She was born October 25, 1932 in Roane County, WV and was the daughter of the late Thomas Courtney and Dixie Epling Courtney Cottrill.

She had worked for Western Guidance and the WV State Hospital.

Effie enjoyed cooking and baking.

Left behind to cherish her memory, is her son, Roger Cooper (Carla) of Surfside Beach, SC; one brother, Ervin Courtney of Charleston, WV; one granddaughter, Abby Brewer (Caleb) of Charleston, SC; and special niece and caregiver, Kim Nielsen Orr (Mike) of Haymarket, VA.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her four brothers, George, Charles, Herman and Thomas Courtney, Jr.; three sisters, Audrey Cassell, Eleanor Cantrell and Frances Nielsen; and one half sister, Marie.

A graveside service will be 12:00 P.M. ~ Thursday, August 31, 2023 at Epling Chapel Cemetery in Roane County, WV.
