Obituary

DORIS JEAN CLINE, 86, of Spencer, West Virginia, went home to be with her Lord on Saturday, December 12, 2020 at CAMC General in Charleston, West Virginia. She was born July 27, 1934 in Roane County, a daughter of the late Ralph G. and Gladys Ashley Atkinson. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jimmy Eugene Cline; a son, Danny Cline; and two brothers, Darris and Delmar Atkinson. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her family, church family, and friends brought great joy to her life. She loved the Lord and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Spencer for 53 years where she faithfully served on many boards and committees, her favorite being the Deaconess Board where she worked diligently to help care for others. She also greatly enjoyed music and singing in the choir. She looked forward to Saturday evenings so she could tune in and enjoy listening to the Gaither Gospel Hour. She was an inspiration and touched many lives during her lifelong journey. Left to treasure her memory are her three grandchildren, Danelle (Russ) McCray, Brandon (Megan) Cline, and Whitney (Nathan) Williams; her two great-grandchildren, Taylor McCray and Lincoln Cline; her daughter-in-law, Debbie Cline; two sisters, Betty Boggs of Liberty, North Carolina and Sharon Wine of Culloden, West Virginia; and several nieces and nephews, all of whom she was so proud of and loved dearly. Family and immediate friends are welcome to attend a graveside service at 11:00am Saturday, December 19, 2020 at the Eventide Cemetery in Spencer with Pastor Mark Wood and Rev. George Chandler officiating. Due to COVID-19, it is required that all who attend must wear a mask and observe social distancing. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages that donations be made to the First Baptist Church Deaconess Outreach Ministry, 338 Main Street, Spencer, WV 25276. Taylor-Vandale Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
