DAVID LEE CARPENTER was born May 5, 1938 in Roane County, West Virginia a son of the late Clyde and Emma Lena Wetter Carpenter. He passed from this life to the next on January 23, 2016 in Temple, Texas at age 77. David is survived by the love of his lfe and best friend, Zella Freshwater Carpenter; a daughter, Joyce Smith and her husband, Rick; a son, Thomas Carpenter and his wife, Jennie; a sister, Wanna Carpenter Moore; three grandsons, David, Johnathon and Joshua Carpenter; and David and Johnathon's fiances, Sheniece and Rachel, who he counted as granddaughters. While this life took him to many places, today his spirit is at rest in Heaven and his body is back to the place he always considered home - West Virginia. He will be buried in the Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Reedy, West Virginia beside those of his family who have gone before. Visitation will be Saturday, February 20, 2016 from 11:00am to 1:00pm at the TAYLOR-VANDALE FUNERAL HOME in Spencer, West Virginia. Funeral service will be at 1:00pm with burial to follow at Pleasant Grove. In lieu of flowers, gifts may be made to the Lymphoma Research Foundation, St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital or Shriner's Hospitals for Children.
