Carol
Stewart
d. May 27, 2026
On Wednesday, May 27th, 2026, our Heavenly Father reached down and took Carol Sue Meadows Greenlee Stewart into his loving hands.
Carol, mother of David "Mike" Greenlee (Joellen), Sherri L. Greenlee, and grandson, Forrest Greenlee,
was born on August 19th, 1942 in Peytona, Boone County, West Virginia, daughter of the late Rebecca Burnside Frye and stepdaughter to the late Lester C. Frye. She was also preceded in death by her husband's David Greenlee and James "Jim" Stewart; one son the late Scott A. Greenlee.
She lived many years in Spencer, West Virginia and 21 years in Bartow, Florida before moving back to Spencer in 2025.
Carol retired from Harris Oil Company in Spencer, WV.
Living life on her terms and never wavering, she always stood her ground on principles she firmly believed in. Always showed up in the most detrimental of times when someone had reached their rock bottom. While surviving 11 major hurricanes in her 21 years in Florida, her green thumb went unsurpassed as everything she planted became a gardener's dream. She loved cooking (especially for others), driving fast cars and listening to very loud music. Her passion was caring for every kitty that would wander into the yard...most of which stayed for the cooking...and providing a safe haven for them. She leaves behind Alice and Tippy, her 2 favorite kitties.
While white daisies were her favorite, in lieu of flowers, her wishes are to make donations to local non-profit animal shelters.
She will be laid to rest at the Fairview Cemetery, in Reedy, WV with her late husband James "Jim" Stewart and son, Scott.
While many friends and family members will remember her for her strong character and personality.
Services will be at 2:00pm Tuesday June 2, 2026 Pastor Jack Roberts officiating. Visitation will be held 1:00pm-2:00pm at the Taylor Vandale Funeral Home.
