Basil Ray Dye, 91, of Palestine, WV passed away at his home March 20, 2023.

He was born November 16, 1931 in Wirt county, WV and was the son of the late Ward and Linnia Price Dye.

He was a 1949 graduate of Wirt County High School and a United States Army veteran and served in the Korean War. Basil had worked for Kenne Corp., FMC Corps., and later ran a farm for Dr. F.P. Greene. He was a member of the Mt. William Baptist Church. Basil was an avid hunter, enjoyed listening to gospel music and spending time with his family and friends.

Left behind to cherish his memory are his three daughters, Evelyn (Roy) Barnett of Newark, WV, Carolyn Sims and Cathy Burdette both of Spencer, WV; son, Michael Dye (April) of Palestine; 8 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Roberta E. George Dye; five brothers; three sisters; and great-granddaughter Haelynn Burdette.

A memorial visitation will be 10:00-12:00 P.M. ~ Saturday, March 25, 2023 at Taylor-Vandale Funeral Home at 206 Beauty Street Spencer, WV 25276.
