ARLESS WILLADEAN "DEAN" PAYNE, 86, of Charleston, West Virginia formerly of Gandeeville, West Virginia died October 12, 2019 at the Eastbrook Nursing Home in Charleston. Dean was born October 10, 1933 in Roane County, West Virginia a daughter of the late James W. and Goldie Pearl Elswick Groves. She was a homemaker, enjoyed crocheting and was a Christian. In addition to her parents, she was preceded inn death by her husband, Kenneth L. Payne; one daughter, Diane Shanks; one sister, Janice C. Gibson; and one brother, James W. Groves, Jr. She is survived by one sister, Sherry L. Smith of Clendenin, West Virginia; one granddaughter, Julia Dawn Shanks; three great-granddaughters; and a sister-in-law, Reta Groves of Sandyville, West Virginia. There will be a visitation from 5:00 to 6:00pm on Tuesday, October 15, 2019 at the TAYLOR-VANDALE FUNERAL HOME, Spencer, West Virginia. Dean's wishes were to then be cremated.
